For whom do we write?
We write for bookstores,
And street vendors who resemble
The painters from the eighties.
Also, we write for the big databases,
Online book retailers,
Blogs, portals, statistics,
Not to forget social networks.
We write for everybody and nobody,
To increase our visibility,
And redeem ourselves in the eyes
Of the so-called public.
We would write for readers as well
If they were not too busy
Writing on their own.
Strange adventures of ‘speculative realism’ tell us a lot about the state of philosophy today. Even though there is a suggestion that behind its paradoxical name lay the conceptual riches worth investigating, till this day it only served as an umbrella term or a brand. Neither the advocates nor the opponents of its use have ever tried to expose its potential philosophical meaning.
Compelled to create,
like the fish are compelled
to swim in the water.
You shouldn’t watch further
That’s the reason why we create.
Just like the water is the condition
and medium of life for fish
the same is the Capital
for contemporary subjects.
Money makes money
Careers are being built
And professes are collecting tenure credit
Just like the bees honey
Type in ‘I love you’ then send
Just like you insert the coin
Into the grand vending machine which knows to offer
“The Greatest Love Poems of All Time”
And where to find
Cheap luxurious bouquets downtown.
Social networks are not the matter of public affairs
But of influence spheres, circles, and imaginary agorae
Where the most important is to display oneself and gain easily quantifiable power.
It just shows the ongoingness of the great debate
Sophists are on the move
